A pre-flight briefing for your drone

DroneAI

Pick a place and your drone, and see at a glance whether you can fly: a single score from 0 to 100, the best flight windows for the next 48 hours and an outlook for the week.

Briefing with score

01

The idea

Before I fly I always check a handful of apps: weather, wind, satellites, sunset. I wanted all of that on one screen, with a clear answer: can I fly now, and if not, when can I?

02

How the score works

Every hour gets a score based on wind at 10 metres and aloft, gusts, precipitation, visibility, temperature and daylight. The limits differ per drone: a Mavic 4 Pro handles more wind than a Mini. That keeps the score honest for the aircraft you actually fly.

03

Built and hosted

A Next.js app in TypeScript with no database of its own: all weather data comes live from Open-Meteo and satellite positions are computed in the browser. It runs in Docker on my own server and goes live automatically on every push to GitHub.

Score per drone

Limits for DJI Mini, Air and Mavic models, including the Mavic 4 Pro.

48-hour timeline

Wind, gusts, rain chance and darkness per hour, with the best windows marked.

Satellites & Kp

Visible GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou satellites plus the geomagnetic index.

Golden & blue hour

For people who fly to film: the best light of the day.

Winds aloft

Wind up to 120 metres, because it is often much windier up there.

NL/EN, light/dark
